The combination of our expertise, skills, and advanced technology enables us to provide the safest, most effective, and most comfortable pediatric services available today. In fact, after one visit, you may find your child looking forward to their appointments with us! Digital X-RaysIn dentistry, x-rays have been an important diagnostic tool for many decades. Up until fairly recently, x-rays involved a tedious film development process. The advent of digital x-rays has made this crucial part of pediatric dentistry even better! Instead of a film slide, a digital x-ray utilizes an electronic sensor that we place in the mouth. The sensor captures radiographic images almost instantly, and with less radiation emission. If an image is insufficient, we can retake the x-ray without waiting for the development process. Digital images are also easy to manipulate, meaning we can zoom in on a particular area to diagnose minor problems. DiagnodentThe diagnodent is a pen-shaped device that quickly and reliably helps us diagnose instances of decay. The device utilizes a fluorescence laser detector for precision identification of dental caries and periodontal disease. The incident laser light is dispersed onto the tooth to expose damaged tooth structure, which will exhibit higher levels of fluorescence. Many of our younger patients benefit from this minimally invasive diagnostic tool. Nearly 80% of all cases of tooth decay can be detected more easily with the diagnodent pen. Easy and early detection helps us safeguard your child’s teeth and gums, establishing a strong foundation for their oral health. Intraoral CameraAn intraoral camera is a relatively new piece of dental technology that can also be used to diagnose and prevent potential problems. A standard x-ray may not reveal enough information to make a proper diagnosis. With the use of an intraoral camera, we can capture a magnified image to identify problems that may not be visible to the naked eye. Most intraoral cameras are shaped like a wand, which is easy to maneuver within the mouth. The images are projected onto a screen so you and your child can see what we see in real time. This allows you to take an active role in your child’s professional care. Wand Injection/Sedation TechnologyOur specialists understand that some children may have fear or anxiety associated with a trip to the dentist. We strive to provide a comfortable and even enjoyable experience for your child. In some cases, this may involve sedation technology like wand injections. The Wand is a computer-assisted system for local anesthesia, which numbs the mouth and eliminates pain. We find that children prefer wand injections because they are significantly more comfortable than syringe administrations. This improves comfort, time-efficiency, and your child’s overall experience at our office. Schedule a ConsultationIf your child needs innovative dental care, you have come to the right place!
